neg camber, wing, shift-2-1st, back seat passthru...
got a silver sti today. Here's what I learned.
Alignment: The alignment place managed to get -1 degree negative camber on the front wheels (0 toe in). This does help reduce the push that I felt earlier today. Understeer/turn-in changes with throttle - and at transisions it feels a little unpredictable -perhaps the front lsd?
Driving around town: No problems in all kinds of slow traffic today. Engine is significantly smoother at low rpm than my 97 legacy. Ride is a little more choppy than I expected, but I have a Legacy and an M3. Ride is a little stiffer than the M3.
Gearbox: would have to fight to downshift to 1st? No, it does indeed go down from 2 to 1 without much fuss (not as easily as my M3, though).
Wing: Yes it can be bisected. It looks a little strange with only the lower half but my girlfriend likes it a lot better. The exposed upper edge has a few holes - perhaps someone will offer an after market cap for the ends. It certainly is a nicer view out the rear window without it. How to: There is a cable that connects the upper and lower halves, so you will have to remove the whole wing from the trunk, disconnect the cable ends from the bottom side of the wing, and then separate the halves.
Rear seat has no passthru, but if you want to carry a bike or something large, you can leave the seat-back loose (just hooks from the top) and you can sort-of fold it down or take it out. How to: remove the 2 bolts that hold the base of the seat, remove the base, remove the bolts at the bottom of the seat back. remove the seat back. Remove bolts to vertical rails (or was it the black plastic sheet?). I left just one of the upper bolts on each of the vertical rails just hand tight so that I can remove these rails when I move the seat back.

That sentence was suuposed to read;
'Would you mind posting a digi-pic of the two havlves and the securing cable?'
Again, thanks.
