My first Sti drive >
My son just got his new 2004 WRX STi today. With only 80 miles on it I got to drive it. Just a little background before my comments. I have had my own 2004 WRX now for 20 days. Yes it is WR blue pearl, sedan, with short shifter and turbo boost gauge, wing, manual trans. He also got a regular 2004 WRX S Wagon about that time.
The new STi in Silver and silver wheels just knocked my socks off as I turned the corner and saw it setting there. The color and the wheels just blasted me!
The air intake and the wing are large! The tires look mean. The interior and all the features are just wild! Even has auto climate control.
Then I drove it with my wife and my son and his wife! That is a lot of weight. It took off like my WRX, had to raise the rpm's and baby the clutch.
It was loud inside with just exhaust sound. As we drove down the street we could hear the tires making an extra level of background noise. Then the normal bumps were really noticable. Remember I gave my starting position (owning a WRX). On smooth surfaces the ride was calm.
It revs instantly while babying the pedal. It is hard to keep it under 4000 rpm. The shifter is just superior to my shifter in terms of easy manipulation. It just clicks into the next gear! Throws are as short as mine, just butter smooth.
I could drive in 5th geat at 40! and accelerate gently and the torque was there! I can't do that with my WRX. I have to be at 45 to not feel the boggy feeling.
I accelerated a little in 5th gear and was amazed at how it responded, (just to 50). Then I drove it in 4th gear and from 35 and just slight acceleration pressure the vehicle just jumped forward! It accelerates with authority.
The car is what they advertise, a real sports car. Keep that in mind and you will just have an ear to ear grin on your face all the time you drive it. Who need a radio anyway? You will be too busy soaking in the vibes from this beauty/beast!
Now that I have read all the specs and reviews and found out the costs of many of the features on this car I am amazed that my son got it for $32,000! It is a real bargain!
Cheers

Well, that does it for me. I thought I liked Black/Gold or Blue/Gold, but this Silver/Silver just takes the cake for me.
Thanks for the pic, and grats!!!

To all, I do not see how to reply individually, so here goes:
to Martyr; Thank you. It's a real knock-out. I wish I could put one on a stage in my den. It is a work of art, to behold.
to Catdogr: thanks, I know what you are saying. But there is a little "gas" and I mean little, left in the tank, at age 64.
to Essogas; Thank you so much for the kind words. That made my day!
to BigDaddy 78660; My son John kept the first WRX "for his wife". The STi seems like too much, to drive the daily commute. But that is me. He is only 41.
Thanks to all for your comments. I have more photos to follow.
