hey

alphmale

you must not know me very well i don't really get that pissed at people. especially on a public forum. so, no i am not pissed at all. you are absolutely correct in your statments, especially the "law of diminishing returns". i have experienced that time and time again.

i am not sure how you continue to emphasis the power in a straight line thing. did you read what i said carefully? i value both probably equally the same, with probably a few points leaning toward handling. in my original post i stated i thought 0-60 times were boring and 1/4 mi is even worse.

the bottom line between the 2 cars is the overall feeling of the car. the EVO is like a surgeons knife. the STi is more like, well as alfreid said, a pearing knife. the EVO is much more precise and you feel much more in contact with the road. the STi does the same thing, but with a softer, more blunt feel to it. i guess my point continues, it all depends on what you are looking for. a scalpel on long drives over really crappy roads could bet pretty old. i certainly would like that scalpel when i am driving spiritedly, but those days are fewer than the daily drive back and forth to the store, or the long trudge to work.

a dodge neon is just that. a cheap car that goes fast in a straight line. i don't want cheap. and i dont want a corvette or a mustang. i will be living at 6000ft and working at 100ft. i need a car that car drive in DEEP snow all winter, and then transition to rain the next day. all over roads that are the worst in the country. the neon doesnt cut it in those conditions. no non-awd car does. i think the STi will do it the best.

PS and yes, the rags do favor the EVO. i can see that. but that is THEIR opinions, not mine. yes they always throw in the "out". but i don't see the "out"s in this article quite the same, nor unimprtant. i am also willing to bet the dirt track was something like a raly cross, nice smooth dirt course. i need to read more about it though to be sure.

Yes, the STI has it, its electronically built into the electronic throttle so it probably wont even increase weight
