i got the letter to go pick it up but i called them and asked how long they will hold it and they said 3months

nah, you can get the DMV to hold it for you until you're ready to put it on. That's what I've done..

I tried to get them to hold it for me, but they said they couldn't guarente(sp?) that it would be there when i came back.
