Information on fitting a stereo requested

Could any kind soul enlighten me as to how to fit a stereo to my STi? Two questions occur.
1) How the hell do you get the door panels off to access the speaker ports. I have looked several times but nothing obvious occurs. I do not wish to randomly prise around with screw drivers without a clue. Its not like there is Haynes manual.
2) How do you get the silver plastic cover off the radio port. I gently prised down each side of the fixture but lets just say it did not fall off easily. It there a trick or is it just more force that is required. Again I do not want to butcher the dash with futile approaches.
I believe the STi comes with a standard wiring harness. Because I do not need a stereo that can shatter windows at 100 yards I think I will stick with that rather than adding my own.
Finally there is a little information spread throughout several forums on what standard speakers will fit in the doors. Am I correct in understanding that the front door is designed for 5 inch speakers but 6.25 will take pretty well and the back takes 4 inch but has no mounting hardware included?
Many thanks for helping out a timid STi owner.

Getting the door off is easy once you know what to do...
Front door speaker install instructions
The rear doors are almost the same... just unscrew the hand hold... pop it out... right by the top and out side of the door pannel you'll notice a little plastic screw... unscrew that and pull out the grommit(don't know the right term). then you can pop the door pannel off... the window control is part of the door pannel on the rear and it's kinda hard to press in the release tab for the wires by yourself... but you can do it
I was able to put Kenwood 6.5s" in the front with about a half inch plastic riser and Kenwood 5.25s" in the back by using thick double sided tape to keep it stationary and only screwing in 3 of the 4 screws since the rear door is a little uneven.
This thread gives a good idea on taking the head unit out.
Adding input to stock radio
Those instruction talk about taking out the stock stereo and modding it... but you'll get the idea... the little plastic front is screwed into the metal head unit thingy... just unscrew that and drop in your head unit.
The wire harness has been the same forever. Just go pick up a wire harness for a 93+ Imprezza/Forester.
If I think of any other good information... I'll post it... good luck
