I guess Subaru decides by numbers only. The wagons appearantly did not sell enough to keep them around. As for the bugeyes....only the U.S. liked the design.

i coulnd't disagree more.

i liked the buggie, and still do. the new design is much nicer on the eyes, and will please the euro and asian countries. the tuned cars from the auto salon just look awesome.

this is the best thing subaru has done, and the sales of this redesign will prove that.

where did you hear they axing the wagon? i believe they are importing those as well, just not an STi.

remember, everyones opinions are different. subaru HAD to have done extensive testing of the new design before they released it. all the euro mags love it, and the japanese market is foaming at the mouth for them. much better welcome in the markets they make the most money. that is exactly waht subaru wanted.

i welcome the redesign, and can't wait to get my STi.

It's music to my ears whenever I hear someone dis the STI. I like the new look and I know the STI will be scarce so for everyone who doesn't like it, it increases my chances of getting one. I actually think the lights look like the previous generation Corolla. I still like it.

personally, i like the bug eye version better, youll be getting headlight comments about the sti too cause i think the lights look like that of the rsx. but thats my opinion. everybody is entitled to their own.
and as for the wagons. i have seen the brochure, and they are keeping them for 04. dont worry they wont get rid of em that easy.

I agree with the first post on 'originality'. However, i'm also a big fan of tradition, or heritage in car designs, like how most Mazdas resember and compliment each other. e.g. rear end of Miata, RX-7, Millenia, etc. have very similar lines.
In that sense, my '02 WRX is a stepchild from rest of Subaru models, including previous Imprezas. I liked the originality of '02 but I think the new design is a better one. plus, '02 wasnt really a grondbreaking design... a la oversees Corollas, Neons (damn Neons! )
Still, my favorite is the '02 WRC model. So, i finally got some Orciaris

hey judge

the wagon will be in the line up. trust me.

the sales will not decline. just as you stated

"sorry to inform everyone but the majority of Impreza and even WRX owners in the US bought the car because of its looks and features over its performance and are not members of this or any other site"

so very true. only a fraction of the people who own wrx's actually visit this site, or even post. but as you said, people are buying for looks and features. there is no car on the market that can compete with the wrx. it is the best bang for your buck car out there, and just as some liked the "old" bug eyes, many more will buy it for the "new" look. i didnt buy mine based on looks. if i wanted looks, than i would have bought something else.

the non-wrx will continue to rise in sales, and more likely out sell the outback and forester soon. the evo is not competition for the base model, and is a limited production car, as the STi. there will be many many people who will be super happy with the base model wrx.

subaru has created its own niche now with the wrx. trust me when i say it will continue to grow in popularity.

I prefer the redesigned front fascia...

A friend of mine once said that the current WRX front end looks like a "scared catfish." :P

yes i have seen it. it is a super early addition brochure.

and the increase was not from the redesign, is was the wrx. sure there are thousands who had no idea what a wrx was and there are many grandma's driving rex's. the looks was the most contraversal negative every magazine or review i read. the responce hee was very negative, but it grew on all of us, and as i said before i didnt buy it for looks. i bought it cuz it was awd and had a ej20.

when the 2.5 RS came out, impreza sales started to climb. it is subaru's cultish following that caused that increase, and it continued to climb right up until the redesign (first year sales ~2500 to something like ~11500 in 01'). i would have been MUCH happier with a wrx in the old body style, but instead we got the bug eyes.

you are very strong in your opinions, and you seem to make large blanket statements based on that. for the most part, i hope you are wrong and right. i would live for the wrx to return to its cult status, and not see them every 6th car on the road like i do now. so hopefully you are right. but in terms of subarus success, i hope the redesign takes off like wildfire. more models will come from overseas (B4) and possibly more unique US models will be designed.

but as for the wagon, i would be absolutely shocked if they dropped it. its sales between the outback, ts and wrx must outsell the sedan. i see just as many wagons if not more here in california. i will do some research and get back to you.
