hey guys.. how much do yall think the STi will be in 2005? do yall think the price will be a bit cheaper?? because im buying a new car in 2005 and i want the STi.
I wondered this myself.
I might have to put off buying one until next year. This may be better incase there are any problems with the current STi.
But it may be a hot commodity, and Subaru might up the MSRP in 2005...

Hell...they can increase the price mid- year if they wanted to. It all depends on how the dollar to yen ratio is. if the dollar gets weaker, the dealerships have to pay more for the cars, thus increasing the prices to us.

In general, the MSRP of a car doesn't go down with time.....it usually goes up. So, you can bet that the MSRP of an STi in '05 will be more than it is now (but it will probably be better equipped with more/different standard features)...........how much more, no one can say; but they sure ain't gonna drop MSRP.
Now if there's little demand, because of the economy etc. (or the market's been saturated with STi's....an unlikely scenario) then the MSRP could still be higher than it is now, but the dealers may be selling for well below MSRP with additional incentives etc. to get them off the lot.
Given all the hype at the moment ,and the fact that SOA claim they will import less than 5000 STis per annum into the US, I don't think the market is likely to be saturated a year from now.....in fact some people who have deposits down now for an STi may not get one until '04 (I put my name down early January and MAY get one early '04 according to my dealer).
The upside is that by '05 there will be "previously enjoyed" (or should that be "previously abused") STis on the market.....no way would I buy one of these babies second hand though.

That's a bit opitimistic. Maybe late 2005, you'll find a 2005 for that.
Dealers in the beginning are always slow to negotiate. But once the initial demand is satisified, they'll deal. But I think you are going to need close to 8000 cars in the US before you'll see really good deals.
Remember, only so many people can afford/want a small car that costs $30k+. So, it's a very specialized market.

Question: Why isn't anyone talking about going with a regular WRX and upfitting it with the Prodrive 'Performance Package'.
Forget about the exterior bits (wings, headlights, etc) and just get the go fast bits and you'll have a true sleeper with nvery near STi power & performance without the ungodly wait.
Just wondering...

hey id be happy with the normal WRX hell its improved! wooo hooooo, its got options with moonroof which is nice and i want that, yet the sti will be there on the streets somewheres... and if i had decided to buy the normal WRX, and i stop the light next to a STi i would bow down to that baby and worship it with envy .. but i would always b down to try n smoke an STi in my WRX with mods or even stock to see how good the other driver in the STi is. see how much better on the real streets...
