how do carefully was this thing?
Currently I'm using the cheap Zymol car wash (not the bathe) since I got a great deal on a gallon a while back and it works well (except its almost gone). I've also used mothers (ok), meguiars gold class (ok), meguiars hi-tech (one of the better ones), zymol bathe (great but cost too much
), and a few others.
The driving around bit is convenient but I dont really like it for a few reasons. You still get water spots and the water also picks up dirt from the air. But hey....your wax should last longer if do this.

I think almost all the car wash soaps are the same. I use the berry stuff from malco.
I agree with acarguy on the drying part. Don't drive around to air dry as you'll pick up dirt from the road. Then when you go to wax or polish guess what, you're pushing dirt through your clear coat.
You'll notice that the car starts to attract dirt/dust after you wash it(due to static from washing). That's why I wash/dry/polish all together and as soon as possible.

Until I bought my WRB STI I thought I knew how to wash a car - WRONG. Before I took delivery I wanted to be prepared with every goodie possible to keep it clean. Then I checked out
http://www.carcareonline.com/
there really is a correct way to wash and wax without scratching your car - just read the articles. Carecare sells no product until they have used in for one year (I actually talked with Larry who I believe owns the company and runs their wharehouse since by luck the wharehouse just happens to be close by in NJ).
Larry is a lover (no, a fanatic) of caring for automobiles and he knows EVERYTHING about properly taking care of your car - I will never, never go to a car wash again! Further, I found out that the 100% cotton towels you and I buy are NOT 100% cotton - read his site (a cloth can be contain a certain amount of synthetic fibers and still be called 100% cotton). He showed me the same freaking towels I just bought BUT his, from the same company were slightly different and truly 100% cotton. Those in-between wash sprays - no good as you are just grinding dust into your finish
I have seen the light! and my "I" looks squeaky clean.
