Got mine!
Well, today was the day. The weather people were wrong and it turned out to be a glorious day. Unfortunately my wife and I were terribly distracted with all the work we have to do so trying to make for a clear mind to enjoy the experience of picking up a new car was rather difficult. After going out for lunch with our salesman for some dim-sum we left for home and got caught in the WORST traffic of my life. It was so awful and nothing was moving for about 2 hours! It was a very frustrating experience.
Anyway, now for some quick first impressions: (more will come later) The exhaust note sounds much different that I had expected; really "Japanese" import sounding and not very throaty at all. Compared to my Mustang it's nothing sounding. But that's okay. But I will miss that rumble of the stang.
Interior is fairly roomy and the trim level is nice in my opinion and everything is layed out very logically and ergonomically.
The best thing so far is the DCCD. WOW! I played with this already and you can really feel the difference in the types of drives. By the way, the DCCD never made a peep as I was moving it about trying different settings. No crazy mechanical sounds like I've heard others report. I like the auto setting fine but I'm sure it's not set at 65% rear and 35% front as a default. MY sales guy tells me it's 50-50 in auto. (who knows) When I went to manual and put it in the 65% rear and 35% front there was a huge difference and only then did it really noticably feel like a rear wheel drive. Good stuff.
The intercooler water must be distilled. Filtered won't do. Now I have to go to the grocery store and shop for my car!
I don't want to Brag to my American friends but the rear pass through in the Canadian version is awesome and much bigger than I thought. It can even turn into an arm rest too like the US model. However guys, the radio/6cd changer is *** and you aren't missing anything. It sounds absolutely brutal. and it's better off. This thing has to come out ASAP!
The suspension is very nice! There are so many rough roads in Toronto this car was taking a beating on the broken tarmac the whole way home. It's a firm ride but no firmer than my mustang. It also really dampens the shock of the bumps. Sort of like the bumps feel dull as opposed to sharp hard bumps. The dampeners really take the "edge" off the bumps. I have not had much time yet to test the handling and grip in the curves but this will come soon. The interior noise level is also quiter tham I expected but I wasn't too surprised because Janq happily reported the same.
I think that's it for the quick impressions. Owning this car really has not sunk in yet. It feels kind of unreal still and I can't believe I finally have one of these suckers parked in my spot. By the way, I have had many, many long hard stares from people on the way home. You could tell these stares were coming from people who knew what they were looking at!
