engine?

I've heard some rumors about the sti's engine. someone told me that the would have a twin turbo 6, I also heard from a reliable source that it was a 2.5 turbo. Are they getting rid of the very reliable and strong 2.0turbo?

umm look at some of the posts and you can find out all you want

it is a 2.5l 300 hp 300 lbs ft of torque. 6 speed, active valve system, and dccd differential.

The new engine is untested. However it should be very strong. It is a semi closed deck design with all forged internals.

What does "semi-closed" deck mean? Furthermore, what does open or closed deck mean? I've never heard about that since I started reading threads on this board. Is that something associated with the "boxer" design of the engine?

closed, semi closed, and open refere to the coolant space around the cylinder wall inside the engine block. An open block is basically just the piston wall surrounded by liquid, a semi-closed deck has more spots attaching the piston wall to the rest of the block, and a closed block is much more connected to the piston wall. Its hard to describe without pictures, which are floating around here and nasioc somewhere...
