Ya know, I have NEVER used cruise control. In what situation would you use it, other than on a 300 mile trip (which would be torture in a WRX anyway...)

If this sounds like a diss, it isn't coming out right, so sorry, but I just don't get the usefulness of cruise control...

 

I'm with Hummer on this one. The lack of cruise control on the Evo is a HUGE issue with me. Doing freeway travel for more than 30 minutes without CC is very annoying, especially on 3 or 4 hour trips. It's nice to be able to set the cruise speed and then stretch or rearrange your legs to get comfortable.

Plus, it's such a small and inexpensive item, I don't understand why it is omitted on a $30,000 car. I know, the STi lacks a stereo, but that can be easily fixed (with an MP3 head unit and GOOD speakers and amp, which is sort of a benefit). However, I have not had any luck finding aftermarket cruise control kits.

 

I guess the highways I drive and the traffic on them make CC useless (San Diego), so I never felt the need... Just as a curiosity, where do you live and what types of highways do you drive.

Regarding the lack of CC on the Evo, I remember reading a post, probably on the Evo board, saying that due to some throttle setup issue, CC wasn't possible on the Evo. Sounded like bunk to me, but who knows?

Can't wait to drive the new STi. Sigh... Tough decision. Might just go with something totally different before my brain explodes...

 

I never used my cruise control in my s2000, so why start now?

 

i've never used cruise control either. 300 mile trips in a wrx is not bad either. i go home from college in my wrx, a 320 mile trip. never use cruise control and i have a lot of fun.

 

I used my CC last night for the first time. After 5 minutes I got bored and went back to normal driving. I used it just to see if it worked and to test my ability to operate it. Good to know it works even though I'll never touch it again

 

I know on my wifes Jetta they were able to put Cruise Control on it. I would not see why it could not be done on the Evo.
