You guy's/gals are puttin waaaaaay tooooooo much time into thinkin about this! Of course this car will NEVER pencil out good enough for your Mom&Dad or your inlaws or your X or your therapist or your tax man, notice I never said wife, that's cuz she better like it as much as you, or yer scruuuuuuuud!
The fact is there's nothin like that new car smell and you know it! And anyone that would buy year- old leftovers on a 300hp/ 5sec car, well maybe they need a therapist!
OK--- Think of this, 3000 lbs,300hp,AWD,TOTAL SLEEPER. When you stick yer foot in it, you better have a plan, cuz fertilizers gonna start goin by real FASST!

Actually if your original plan was an M3, then the STi looks awfully attractive. Of course you're giving up interior and other things, but for raw performance in a 4 door sedan the STi is a heck of a deal.
Sure, financially a regular WRX at $22k and 0% financing is a much better deal. But the STi is quite a package (and all under warranty and insurance). At least stick to MSRP as a top price.

Sleeper? Better remove the "I'm a Rice Boy!!!" wing and tone down the bird-catcher, er, I mean hood scoop. Don't forget the pink STi badges all over the place. Don't get me wrong -- I've put my deposit down, but this car is no sleeper. Unless you're thinking that people will look at the gold wheels, wing, badges, etc. and decide it is yet another "all show, no go" rice-mobile, then be surprised when it actually does perform.

DanaJ---You have a very LARGE point, I guess we could use soma that duct tape and plastic sheeting everyones been talkin about and cover the whole car than cut little slots to look out! So now we have to vote again. OK, I think Gold wheels look best with BLACK plastic! Sorry I loose it sometimes! I have teenagers, while we're on THAT subject, where's the best place to hide a kill switch on an sti?----------Fasster

New is nice...
It's true, there's nothing like having the car brand new. Peace of mind that no one else has put the car through the ringer and what not. To me, it's worth it buying the car new. No used for me. Been there, done that. For once I want showroom.
BTW, what is "riceboy" or "rice-wing"

Hell, I bet a lot of people are going to find themselves absolutely gaping when a stock Forester XT creams 'em. 210HP/235lb-ft.

Whenever the 2004 Foresters hit the showrooms. Sometime this summer I reckon.
Subdriven has a good article on it. Subaru of Canada also has 2004 Forester XT microsite, but you'll be in Flash Hell trying to navigate that site. the Subdriven one is more straightforward and frankly more informative. The latter is just a more "official" source I suppose. Oddly enough, there appears to be no information on the XT on the SOA site.
