ALL Major CAR MAGS Have different 0-60 1/4-mile time for the STI WHY???
Why does each car Mag have different times for the STI?
Car and Driver 0-60 4.6 1/4-mile 13.2@103 mph
Motor Trend 0-60 4.87 1/4-mile 13.23@104.6 mph
Road & Track 0-60 4.9 1/4-mile13.3@103.0 mph
AutoWeek 0-60 4.78 1/4-mile13.36@ 100.2 mph
Why so many different times???
I don't see why Petter Solberg is not the offical test car driver for the new STI and get the right time's out of the car.

You know how many different variables that are involved in the times you just posted? Driver, altitude, temperature, humidity, surface, tire pressure, how much gas is in the car, how fat the person is driving the car, what rpm they were at when launching, how many miles were on the car, what octane the car was using, how many runs were used to average the time, was the ground level.....
If all the magazines got the same numbers, then there would be something wrong. As it is now, that's completely normal since they were all probably tested in different parts of the country at different times with different drivers. It happens. The human race isn't "the borg".

You must be joking! Those times are unusually consistent!
Now THAT is impressive. Consistent times like that are a MUCH better indication of what the car is really capable of doing, unlike the Evo times which are all over the place from 13.0 to 13.9. Now, it will be interesting whether "real" STi owners pull 13.2/13.3 times consistently.
Hehe, to be honest...it is common to see a driver at a drag strip with a single car (which he owns) who still can't pull such consistent times in a row like that.

In fact, give the identical car (and I mean identical in every way, including identical track or road conditions) to five different individuals (all first class drivers) and you will get five different timing results in every test and five different subjective opinions.
STi enthusiasts (of which I am one) are very loyal, but so are EVO's. Personally, I think a lot of car magazines are leaning towards EVO because it is the new kid on the block. But that's okay, the competition will make both manufacturers improve their product and, in the long run, that's the name of the game and we all come out winners.

I'm with gohan, Martyr, and infinity5235.
I've never seen times that close among magazines. Even more amazingly is that they were accomplished with every variable being different. Take your car to the track and make 4 best-effort runs and see how tight your numbers are. The only off number is the 100.2 mph

You also have to add into that the difficulty in getting completely consistent times out of an all wheel drive car. Launching the car exactly the same on different surfaces is not the easiest thing in the world to do. That being said I completely agree with the above statements that the times those mags got are extremely consistent with each other. Take your car to 4 different drag strips with different altitudes, track surface, temperature and driver and see how different your results are.
