100 Octane
100 Octane about 10 miles away at the Sunoco.
How often can I use this? Can I start now with 100 miles on the STI? The engine will run hotter but what else, detrimental, does running higher octane do to the internals?
At $4.29 a gallon I am sure that I won't be using it that much.

100 octane would probably actually be better for your STi than 91 octane. subaru reccomends 93 octane for the STi, which isn't really available here in CA. the higher octane will reduce the risk of detonation under full throttle (not really applicable since you're still breaking it in) and give you slightly mroe power. as long as it's unleaded, i don't see any reason not to run it now unless you'd rather wait and spend the $$$ on it once the engine is broken in and you can use full throttle.

Your car will NOT run "hotter" with 100 octane.
100 octane burns SLOWER than 93 or 91.
The reason that it yields more power is because the slower burn allows more advanced timing. Although you might be able to tell the difference from 91-100, if your programming isn't made to handle 100 octane, all you'll be doing is burning a hole in your wallet.
