Yes if you have metallic tint it will interfere wire reception since the antenna is in the window. The only fix for that is to either have the tint replaced with ceramic tint or remove it completely.
Also if you have an aftermarket radio you need to make sure the power antenna wire is connected to power the antenna amplifier or reception will be poor.
Alternately you can install an aftermarket antenna in a different location.

Maybe I am thinking entirely wrong here, but why would tint thats on the inside of the window, effect a signal from an in-window antenna that is not attempting to pass through the tint?

Because of the metallic content in the tint (assuming it's the metallic type). Anything metal placed too close to an antenna will adversely affect its operation. And the signal is everywhere, it isn't just on one side of the antenna.

Anyone have any insight on ceramic tinting? I have called a few shops and the ceramic can be pretty expensive. Some shops also guarantee no radio interference...is ceramic the only solution (besides relocating the antenna or removing tint completely)??? Thanks.
