'sup yall

i'm very happy with my 2.5 TS sport wagon and i'm about to install my kenwood system from my previous car but don't know where to put the cd changer

in my last car i had it hangin' off the top of the trunk

the glove compartment is too tight

not sure that under the passenger side seat is gonna be hidden enough

and the trunk, well the flooring doesn't seem sturdy enough besides i've got a cargo tray in there already

someone out there has to have a cd changer in their wagon, or at least know of one. can you help me out?

any suggestions are much appreciated

 

I had the same problem but I was wanting to mount a 6 disc Alpine cd changer into my '04 WRX wagon. I didn't really love the under the passenger seat option but it seemed to be the best solution.

The first pic is with the passenger seat all the way forward (locked into the first notch). I mounted the changer as high and as far forward as I could so it didn't block the heat vents but not so high that it interfered with the connector for the air bag.

The second picture shows the seat 8 notches back from the most forward position. The seat in this position is comfortable for a small person up front and the changer is completely hidden. My wife is 5' tall and usually has the seat a bit further back than this but certainly not all the way back.

I knew there had to be someone out there that understood my predicament.

I may end up putting mine in the same spot you did, and it doesn't look like there's any getting around the fact that the heat vents are gonna be blocked, hopefully the heat won't affect the cd-changer too much, and the person sitting in the back is gonna have some foot space issues.

The alpine changer is quite sturdy. You'd have to really kick it hard to do any damage. Besides, as far as it sits under the seat it'd be quite a challenge to kick it very hard.

I'd only tolerate a single accidental bump. After that I'd be kicking the crap outta the kid!

I saw pictures of one installed in the glove box and the back of the box had to be cut down a couple of inches. Other than the cargo area there really isn't anywhere else to put it. Imagine how beat up it could get from cargo sliding around in back. I'd think that'd be far worse than under the seat.

The thing I disliked the most about the under the seat option was screwing it to the floor board.
