$400 to have the sub enclosure fabbed. I could have bought a prefabbed box for a lot less, but it would have taken up space in the trunk/hatch and would not have been anywhere near as cool!
The 10" Image Dynamics sub cost another $160. I won't even get into the cost of the rest of the system.

one more question. Any idea how much clearence your speaker has from the back wall of the enclosure in that setup? I was thinkin about getting a different sub which has a slightly bigger mounting depth. I am wondering if you chose that sub because of its depth, or if there is room to spare. Any idea?
Thanks!

No, I don't have any idea. I gave them the idea for the design and they suggested the sub because of the limited air space. If you want any outside dimensions, I can take them for you. Just let me know.

Another question for you or anyone else wrxrated and company. Anyone have any good ideas about where I could hide this amp: http://www2.yewnix.net/~mmiga/255a_2.jpg
Its like 23 inches long and by comparing it with the helix amp that wrxrated has, its not gonna fit under the seat. I do not have the car yet, but i'd like to know if anyone has any ideas for hiding this beast. Basically I'm going for "invisible" to the eye. I'm gonna make the spare tire sub because you won't be able to tell its there. I am getting speakers that will fit in the door so that you cannot tell they have been upgraded. I just need an amp that will hide so that no one can see that and I am good to go!
Any suggestions/Ideas?

P.S. Nice enclosures Subee.. but I think wrxrated takes the cake (since its completely invisible!

You could always mount it on the back of the rear seats. That's what I was going to do if the Helix didn't fit under the seat (it barely did). This presents a problem if you get a wagon and intend on folding the seats down and using the cargo space. The amp might also fit in the tool compartment between the rear seats and the spare tire.
Or you could just buy a smaller amp...

when i originally set out making the wrx enclosures, i posted a poll asking where people would like the enclosures at. i had 1 out of about 50 say spare tire well. so i never made it, but i really liked the idea, so i will start playing with some stuff here pretty quick.

Kevin, I'd like to see this become a mass-produced product. Let me know if you need any dimensions or detailed pics.

to get anywhere near a good amount of airspace, it needs to be that size. it is currently about .9 cu ft total airspace.
as for the spare tire stuff, i want to find an easier way to make them rather than glassing them in. when you do it with fiberglass, you can only make one at a time from a mold, which would take some major time to make alot of them. however, you never know what will happen.

I know this may get some flame responses, but you all have been real cool so far. I have a few "n00b" questions about car audio installations. If you subee or wrxrated or whoever doesn't mind me asking.
1) When I am wiring up my head unit, should i just tape the ends of the leads that go to the old speaker connects? My HU has all preamp outputs (that I will use to run to the amp). Does anyone have any special suggestions for this? Just clip them away and tape it or something else?
2) Does anyone know how I might go about screwing the back of the HU to the firewall. The WRX has the double din, so i should have some room to play in there. I'd like to make it so if some jackass wants to steal the HU he will have his work cut out for him! :P
3) Do you have any suggested places that sell mounting brackets/etc? I am going to put 5 1/4 inch speakers in the doors (that are 6 1/2 inch holes). Crutchfield says the infinitys wont fit in the 6 1/2 inch holes so ill get slightly smaller ones and make them fit. If I can buy a solution that'd be better than rigging something myself.
4) Any other general comments/suggestions for me? I'm getting really close now and am hoping to make the install as precisely executed as possible!
Thanks!

2) I have no idea.
3) I ran 5.1/4" Focals without any problems. See the attached pic. I think the stereo shop must have built custom spacers.
