What is this noise!!!
Vehicle- 2002 Subaru Impreza WRX
Current system- Pioneer head unit, pioneer speakers, 5 channel Amp (Don't remember what brand, but it's 10+ years old), Rockford Fosgate 10" sub
Installer- Myself
Installer experience- I've done 3 complete audio set ups in my car, a gti, and a integra.
Budget- Irrelevant to this problem.
Future Goals- Fix this before I go insane.
So, since I installed this audio system in my car 5 years ago it has played music great. I did change out the two front speakers in June 2012. No issues.
I washed my car and this happened. WTF! The noise only comes from the passenger side front speaker, and does not change with speed while driving. I have checked the wiring to this speaker only. It looks fine. What could cause this?
*Turn your speakers down, it's very high pitched and annoying*
Any help would be appreciated. I am ripping the interior apart and re-wiring the audio system with all new wiring next week. But, it would be helpful to know if this was a head unit or speaker blown.
Thanks,
Theo

Swapped RCA's. It's still only on the front right. I'm thinking my RCA's may be too close to my power cables?
I unplugged the speaker for now, since I am making a 6 hour drive this friday.
I'm taking everything apart and wiring it nice next week. Do it right or do it twice. lol

If your RCAs were too close you'd get the noticable alternator whine.
Funny thing, I got the same noise when I threw in my kenwood deck not as loud though. Are all of your settings on the amp correct? If the gain is too high you might get this noise. Does your headunit have a setting to turn off the internal amp? Also have you tried installing without the amp? That will let you use process of elimination for sure.

Ok so I took everything apart and used new wires, connections and soldered what needed to be soldered.
- Hooked the speakers directly to the head unit at first, everything worked.
- Hooked speakers and amp on individual channels everything worked
- Front right speaker noise came back
- Swapped speakers and it's still the same front right giving me the issue.
I've come to the conclusion my amplifier is bad, but since I don't know that much about the topic I figured id update it on here. Thoughts?
