I have a Kenwood MPV-619 MP3 Head unit, Polk audio 5 1/4" front door speakers, 4" rear speakers and a Subaru OEM subwoofer from a 2000 Outback Sport.
Installing the speakers was the toughest part because of the shallow mounting depth of the 2004 (and 2002+) doors.
Here's a pic of the Head Unit:

BTW it matched the OEM green lighting very well IMHO.
yep. i found the mp3/folder navigation VERY simple to use on my alpine. even though it doesn't control the sirius tuner now, i'd still go with the same setup. I have two remotes now, but rarely use the alpine remote when i'm driving. I use the kenwood remote just for the direct channel access.
this setup sounds a LOT more complicated than it actually is.
oh yeah, and be warned. if you have the 9813 you are going to need an ai-net to rca converter (alpine part number kca-121b i believe) in order to hook up the kenwood tuner. I hate fm modulated sound so i did it that way. the results? very nice

kuth, phat
I can't take too much credit for it, the sound system was done by XP Xtreme Performance in Framingham, MA
www.xtremeperf.com
Glen is the master installer there and we talked about what I was looking for and bounced ideas off each other and he gets mad props for the work, I helped a little but the design and cosmetics were all him, Chad wired up the car I did the XM tuner and lighting changes in the interior.
If any of you guys are in the MA area check them out great people that know thier stuff and have a PASSION for this stuff!!!
if you call talk to Bob he is the owner and loves it!!
Sorry if this sounds like a commercial but they rock!!!
peace
John

grknss.....can you fill me in on the hard drive...I am interested in one of those bad boys.
Here is what I will be running so far...doesn't touch yours.....I have bits and pieces but it's not installed yet.
Alpine 7987
JL Audio 300/4
Mattjk Screen
PS2
Speaker wise I likely will be going the CDT route.
I'd like to add a JL 10w6v2 and either bridge the 2 channels off the 300 or go with a 250 or 500/1 JL.
I have a single farat digital cap...you think that's enough?
I'd like to get something like that hard drive in to play mp3's.
