Video Recording System

So I'm sick of a$$h0|e$ who drive so close behind me that I can't even tell what kind of car/truck they're driving. I was recently rear-ended by one of these "people" who then claimed that "he was at least 5 car lengths back & that I slammed on the brakes for no reason." Thanks to a witness he was proven a complete liar ....
However, I don't want to be dependent on someone else stepping forward in the future.

I'm looking for a simple set-up that I can hardwire into my car and that would record video that I could later export. It would be great to be able to record both front & rear views.

Does anyone have ideas??

The best I've found is Contour | Products | Contour GPS

i've searched and searched. it comes down to price & convenience.

as for recording systems that automatically turn on when the car is on, and off when off; there are only a few choices - either fleaBay or (the name escapes me right now, it's a professional grade POV camera system, $$$)

as for quality, you get what you pay for. most "HD" cams are really just upscaling, with exception of gopro / contour. which don't automatically come on.

search ebay for "Car DVR" and you'll see what i mean

I'm sure you could also use a house camera system DVR hooked up to a Car camera you would just need a power converter for the house DVR. I'm sure you can hook most electronics up to the ignition somehow you just need to be creative. Good luck! Post up when you decide on something!
