The difference is in the total resistance of the entire subwoofer...

The term "Dual" you refer to means the subwoofer has 2 voice coils.

2 ohm, 4 ohm, and 6 ohm refer to how much resistance each voice coil has.

So... Dual 2 ohm = 2 voice coils, each having 2 ohms resistance....
Dual 4 ohm = 2 voice coils, each having 4 ohms resistance
Dual 6 ohm = 2 voice coils, each having 6 ohms resistance...

I know after posting this, you might ask...."How the hell do I use all that info??"...So, here ya go:

You need to know your amp first. If it's 1 ohm, 2 ohm, or 4 ohm stable. If your amp is only 4 ohm stable, putting a sub that presents a greater load could overload the amp. Let's say here you have a 2 ohm stable amp...here's how you get the most out of it.

If you have a Dual 2 ohm sub, and you wire the voice coils in parallel, you'll give the amp a 1 ohm load. I've done it for 3 years on a RF BD1000.1 amp, but not all amps can handle that. Wire the 2 voice coils in series, and you'll present a 4 ohm load. Safe for the amp, but not extracting all the power you could out of it. Possibly a waste of money on a good amp there.

If you get a dual 4 ohm sub, and you wire the voice coils in parallel, you'll present a 2 ohm load to the amp...PERFECT in this scenario.

Wire the dual 4 sub in series, and you'll present an 8 ohm load to the amp....notice a trend here???

I could go into more detail, with different amounts of subs, and the ohms for them, etc... If you need anymore information than this, please post back up with what your amp / sub setup might possibly be. Sorry if this was too much info for your particular question. It's just a question I see a lot of, & I was bored

The info is no problem. I really like to give information back to this sitewhen I can, as I've gotten SO MUCH from it myself.

I looked up some more information on your amp, but didn't find too much. I'll just go with what you have posted above.

The 10w3v2 subs are rated at 300 watts RMS. Using your amp in the 2nd configuration you mentioned, it would be perfect for one of the D4 subs. Wire the sub's voice coils in parallel, hook it up, and the amp will see 1 sub with a 2ohm load, and give it 240 watts...

I wouldn't recommend using 2 subs with that amp. You'll probably get better performance from one sub being powered nicely, than 2 of them with half the power going to each. You can actually cause worse damage to a subwoofer by underpowering it, than overpowering it (distorted signals from the amp, etc...)

My recommendation: Buy one of the D4 subs, wire it up, and enjoy! Use the other 4 channels for your front/rear 4 ohm speakers, and you'll be good to go!

If you need help with how to wire the sub up, check this out: http://www.jlaudio.com/tutorials/wir...ex.html#1dvcsp

Enjoy the sounds!
