SUBARU optional stereo equipment???
Does anyone have the optional AMP/WOOFER combo??
How do you guys like it? How does it hit?
I am looking for sound upgrade, but those Woofer boxes are just too heavy. Thanks for the help!

I got one installed, and did not like it. It will not hit the low notes. I don't listen to much music with a lot of bass, but even then I found it to be disappointing.
The biggest problem is the wiring harness. The sub is tied to the rear speakers. If you want more bass, you have to fade to the rear. This totally ruins the music, because it moves the sound stage to the rear, and the rear speakers really stink.
My wife has the same package, but she enjoys it more than I do. She listens to a lot of top 40 and such, so she does not need much bass.

The sub is rather small so if you want something that "hits" hard this isn't it. It will fill the sound out but no more. Also the stock radio/head unit, which is the same with or without the "upgrade", does not put out that much power.
There are some adjustments on the sub for gain and crossover so it may be possible to improve the sound somewhat from the way it comes, but only up to a point.
The upgraded speakers, if you get those, are better than the stock paper ones but not fantastic.
Overall this upgrade is not worth what the dealer charges for it. If you can get it cheap, maybe. But if you are looking for serious power and bass the only solution will be a new HU, sub, and possibly external amps.
In my personal case, I had the upgrade package and wasn't happy with the sound quality of the HU. I replaced the HU with an Alpine along with the speakers, but kept the sub. I'm happy with the setup now, with the extra drive the sub is adequate for me although I'm not into ground-pounding bass.
FYI Kenwood makes a dual-speaker underseat sub (one speaker is passive) that should be a significant imnprovement over the OEM sub, you might want to take a look at that.
