I am kind of wanting to know the same thing. I have amp and sub that have been in my garage for a while they were in my last car and I just thought today that I would put them in so I got a wiring kit to install it and I took out the stock 6-disc receiver and it does not have RCA connectors on it for a amp. I know that they have a factory amp/sub but how do they connect it to the factory receiver?

Stock sub and amp

I would think there would be a round style 9 pin conector of some sort to link the stock deck with the stock sub set-up.
Are there any empty plugs in the back of the reciever at all?

Anybody out there have the stock sub upgrade?
What does the connection plug giong to the sub unit look like?

I havent taken the time to pull mine out yet. I would not think the would have built a seperate deck to go with the sub option. Especially since the 04 STi had no stock stereo. I know you can tie on to one of the rear or front channels and convert that into an RCA with an adaptor for about $20, or go directly into your amp if it is set up with an internal converter ( I would have done this already but, since I just moved I cant find the direct speaker input plug for my amp).

There are no RCA outputs on the factory HU. The optional sub works by bridging the rear speaker outputs via the plug-in harness.

I you the sub connecter under the passanger seat. Goto scoobymods.com for the wire diagram. I add an EQ, a 4 x100 amp, a150 mono amp, pioneer 6.5" 3 ways in all doors, and a Fosgate 10" punch mounted in the floor of my wagon. If you want my to post pix let me know. It sounds great.

here are the pix. I used the stock sub harness to a LOC then into my pre amp. Then I ran the outputs to 4X100 for the doors and the 150w mono amp off of the eq's sub output. I took the spare tire cover and cut 3/4" MDF to match it. I know the speaker grill looks ghetto but, it's made out of steel and I still carry stuff in my car and I dont have to worry able the speaker getting damaged. The fosgate sub still left space for my spare. Let me know if you got any question. As you see I also added sirius sat. radio. I ran the wires through the dash at the clock pod and I wired it in with the JVC's FM modual. I ran the att. all the way to the back under the headliner. So far I tinted the windows, added 20 mm sedan rear sway, and mud flaps. The back say"You just got beat by a wagon"

Wel I got my 12's and my amp in. I used a $25 adjustable converter tied into the rear right door speaker. Since I autocross I mounted my amp to the box and the box is secured with a STI blue 1200 lb rachet strap (I wasnt sure I wanted to permenantly mount it). It looks good and pounds. No sliding at all and I left it in at the last event no problems. i will post pictures soon.

I always used the converters to do subs into a stock system, then just tie the remote wire into the power antenna lead or just to a sepprate switch.... cuz 'some times you feel like da bass, some times you dont'
