Stealth XM
I didn't want an externally visible antenna (ugly, advertises "I have XM"), so this is what I did-
Terk XM3 "roof tumor" antenna mounted inside third brake light with guts removed. I didn't need the light anyway since there is one in the factory wing. The antenna is supposed to have a ground plane, so I gave it the best ground possible by mounting a metal (steel, so it's magnetic and sticks to the antenna) plate under it and grounded it directly below the light using one of its bolts. There is also a metal plate about 1-1/2 x 3 " in the top cover of the brake light (to prevent the bulb from melting the cover) that has to be removed for the antenna to work properly.
This setup works well with minimal dropouts in most areas I have driven through.

Neat. I wish I could figure out a stealhty way to mount my XM antenna (the little roady one) somewhere in my Outback Sport. So far, putting it on the area near the end of the roof rack is the best I can do.
