Anyone have any info as to why the Impreza is the top stolen car? Is it because they don't have an immobilizer?

Do you think Subaru will be updating their security?

I want to buy a WRX, but I don't want to worry about it being stolen just like that...

 

Where did you hear this? Last I heard, Camrys and Accords were still #1, with Escalades right behind them.

 

Where'd you get this info? Last I checked Ford Taurus and Honda Civic were a lot higher than Impreza's

It's only true in Canada. In the U.S., it doesn't make the top five. In 2003, it didn't even make the top ten list of most stolen vehicles in the U.S. and the same may still have been true for 2004.

Well, despite the wild claims that the Impreza is most stolen vehicle, there *is* an immobilizer on the higher end Subarus (Outback XT & 3.0R, WRX STi, Legacy GT, Forester XT). The technology should trickle down in a few years.

it's not on the top 5 list. to be honest, i'm more afraid of my beater Civic being stolen than i am of my WRX.

 

Sorry guys, I am from the 'land up yonder'. I heard the Impreza was top stolen in the US too, guess I was wrong.

not sure where you are, but i do know that WRX's and STi's were getting stolen like hotcakes in NJ. you can check the tri-state forum on nasioc. most of them are stolen and joy ridden.

 

another reason I am glad I do not live in Canada.... hehe

 

Oooohhhh! in my country the fever begin and the STi is the victim but true is that have been recuperated thanks to LoJack system
