for get it. The sub ecnloser that is there is way to small. Just save your money and get a good box'd sub for your trunk. Also, if u even took out the sub box under neath the seat, that area is still to small to put another decetn sub under there.

did you try tweaking the gain and freq on the factory sub?
there are 2 dials on the side facing the center console.
i have mine setup pretty loud and works great with
my Excelon speakers upfront. my bass is pretty much
controlled by the fader. the rear speakers are still stock
and they sound like crap. i should chance those to coax.

Shamr0ck,
I had the same idea of replacing the stock 'woofer' in the sub. I already have some 6.5 woofers sitting idle. The stock box isn't big enough to hold them, but I can make a spacer with some MDF. I have just begun to figure out how to get the woofer out in the first place.
Another alternative is to replace the underseat woofer with another powered sub. I took a look at the Infinity Basslink and the Kenwood woox. The Infinity is too tall to fit under the seat, but the Kenwood should fit nicely. You already have the wiring done for you; you just need to bridge the stock wiring to the new sub's wiring harness.
Let me know if you have any success getting the woofer out.
