question: what alarms are the best?

Searched forum already but couldnt find answer I was looking for.

Ready to buy an aftermarket alarm and wanted to see what others were equipping their subies with.

Also, I am worried that a built-in turbo timer could interfere with my warranty, etc... Are these fears groundless?

Thanks for any suggestions

I personally like the last generation from Clifford (G4 series). These came out before the DEI takeover....and I feel cliffords quality was much better than what DEI was offering (viper, python, etc). This is the 3rd vehicle I've had an IG7000 on and I'd buy another I got another car Its a little difficult now to get your hands on them since it was discontinued last year.

When it comes to options it really depends on where you live. A glass sensor is nice but not really necessary in many areas. Are your windows tinted? How good is the sensor that comes with the alarm? There are a lot of other factors.

And remember....the alarm is only as good as the installer

Even DEI purchashed Clifford it is still better than the Viper line. The Clifford are using better parts e.g. capacitors....than the Viper alarms. That's what the local clifford/viper dealer told me. That's why clifford is still more expensive than the viper and the rest of the DEI brands.

DEI owns everything. . . literally. Viper, Clifford, Python, on and on and on. all parts are shared. i like clifford better simply cause they give the clifford line(still) somewhat better "ingredients" and also their simplicity in their remotes. my brother has the compustar- that alarm rocks.
but you can make any alarm awesome - my brothers alram has 4 horns 2 external and 2 internal horns(undisclosed locations inside car!! ) VERY LOUD

I have heard some good things about an alarm called Accell (sp?), and I know of a great shop in town that installs these.

The Compustar system looks really good but it is way more $$$ than I want to spend (over $500). All I know is the Subaru OEM alarm is ridiculously pathetic. I was in SoCal last week and there was a brand new WRX parked on the pier... everytime a car drove past -- any car -- that thing went off. Annoying

compustar with the extended range 2-way remote.

i used to have a clifford g4 but it kept going bad... had the brain replaced under warranty and it still was screwed... i suspect it's because there are few authorized clifford installers in my parts and i was unlucky enough to pick the worst of the bunch that ended up closing shop and no one else wanted to touch it
