please tell me this will work

Ok so I have a sony mini disc head unit and a sony cd changer. on a whim I thought I wonder if there is any way i can set up audo inputs so an mp3 player or even a lap top can be hooked up so i can listen to them on my serio.. I tried in the past to make a cd with nothing recorded on it and splice into my rca cables to do it that way but there was some crappy high pitched noise. then i tried the fm modulation route and no matter how much i spent for one they all sounded like trash... I then changed cars and the componets went into storage a year ago.
Well on a whim today i decided that ill throw the mini disc player and cd changer into the subaru.. I then look on crutchfields websight and found this.
http://www.crutchfield.com/S-QNtRd99...=Sony+XA%2D300
so i bought it...
My question is .... did i buy the right thing? and does any one have one of these?
the other thing is how exactly does it work with the changer?? do you just hit the changer button a fiew more times and it reads the aux automatically?

hi im new... but i do know car audio. now if the cd player does not have an AUX plug in it then its an immediate no. But still possible but would require major reconstruction of your cd player. meaning poppin that sucker open and hard wiring a rca or analog jack to you internals.

welcome to the forum!!
i found this
http://www.minidisc.org/manuals/sony...ice_manual.pdf
it shows that it wires in line for your cd changer...
My head unit is made to run a cd changer and i do have a cd changer that I have used with the head unit before...
so if im understanding this right i hook up the head unit to the "aux box" and then wire the aux box to the cd changer.. the manual that i found said that you just press sorce, then mode untill the aux you want is selected. cd2/aux1 or cd3/aux2 or cd4/usb..... I think..
I will have to see when i get home if my head unit has an aux button... i think it does... i know it has a tv button, i remember that, mainly because it was so goofie..

its an old school feature that never cought on ... you could buy an extra add on and get the audo from tv on your radio... its an anchent tuner...
here is what my tuner and disk changer look like..
the tuner is a sony mdx-100
the buttons on the tuner are labled like so
off eject TV
- AMS/Seek + - MANU/DISC +
- SEL + MD CD TUNER
Release mute dspl (buttons1-10) DSP(loud above) File(scrl above) SENS(BTM above)
on the back side
to the left there is the big block connector to the right of that is the unilink cable input and the rca connectors from left to right Unilink in . the middle four are line out/line in (eq in) front and rear.... and the two to the far right are line out rear (eq out) i think i was running subs from the out rear at one time.... I cant be too sure though..
and incase you guys need it my cd changer is a sony CDX-T67

It looks like it should work... I just hope the inputs are what i think they are.

its finaly in.. and it works like a charm... the usb option works so well all you do is plug it in and it automatically takes over your audio.. Now i can watch movies on my lap top and have the sound play thru the speakers, play what ever kind of media you want and it works!! the only thing that would make it cooler is if the head unit would be able to switch tracks on the cup... I am all about this product!!

I finaly got around to finishing off the face plate. I love woodland scenics dry transfer letters, just so easy to use, they look great and happy under some clearcoat.

Back in the day of mini-disk and cassette decks, many of the Sony head units allowed you to chain two changers and control both from the head unit. This add-on box makes the head unit think you have added a changer and merly takes the audio signal from your external device (ipod, mp-3, etc....) as if it was the changer.

Basically an aux input for older head units before they thought of it.
