Need recommendations for 04 STi audio system.

This is my first post so if I am doing anything wrong please let me know. My dad is getting an 04 STi that will later become my little brother's car. Anyway the one we are getting has no radio or speakers and we don't want to waste money on the stock system. We are both clueless when it comes to car audio so we are gonna buy the parts and have a custom sound shop install them. What we need are recommendations for a head unit and speakers and a list of any parts or adapters that we'll need. Money is an issue so nothing extremely expensive. We are not looking to install a sub at this time but maybe later on. I'm partial to Infinity and Pioneer speakers and my little brother wants to be able to play MP3 CDs if thats at all possible. If you need any more info please let me know.

good recommendation. just a few comments though...

why not go with diamond m661...they will fit the front doors just fine with the spacer you can get here on the forum. the 6.5" drivers will provide a little more bass, which is desirable since he will not be adding a subwoofer anytime soon.

i also believe that you can get better amps (for the components) for the price of JL Audio amps. although, i do prefer the 500/1 for subwoofers.
