I'm going to buy some speakers to replace my factory pieces of crap. I saw some polk momo 6 1/2 componets for 299. Anybody here them? How's the sound, bass and highs? What should I but in the back, are they only 4 in in the back? Appreciate the feedback.

 

I have the the 12" momo subwoofer with the momo sealed fiberglass enclosure. It sounds great. I also wanted the 6 1/2's but didn't have the money yet. They sound good also.

sounds like a tin can. My computer speakers sound better. The tech said it was because he had use a converter to the amp because I'm still using the factory head. No bass what so ever and crackels when turned up. He recommended a bass tube but I still think it would have no mid and f up highs when turned loud. What should I do? Get a new head? Did you look at how they installed them in the doors? I have a set - so far the tweets and xovers are installed with an old set of 6.5" alpine mids. Getting the Polks in the doors looks daunting and I want to make some measurements before I start cutting. First off, you need at least a 3/4" spacer to get the magnet to clear the window, but even with that you have to cut off the last 1" of rail on the window. Second, you can't just make a spacer that screws into the factory holes because the actual metal opening in the door is the same size as the basket of the drivers - the speakers wouldn't have access to the air volume in the doors. So at the very least you have to open up the hole in the sheetmetal by about 1".

My guess is that they made a spacer from mdf but didn't open the hole in the door, so the driver has zero airvolume to work in.

If they did do some actual fabrication work I'd love to see some pics...

 

the 4 ch amp makes the componets loud as hell. Sound is better now. The morons had the rear componets to close to the rear deck and didn't leave enough speaker excursion and it was hitting. They put spacers in but when I got it blasting their still isn't enough space and I can hear the woofer hitting the deck. They are going to be sick of my but their but they're going to do it right. I bought a amp and ran the wires but haven't had time to put the finishing touches yet. Going to throw my big old box with two JL 10's to fill the sound out. Reccomend the momo componets now that I heard them installed semi right. Fiy got a kicker 150.2 amp powering the tens. Can't wait to feel the bass again.
