Is this system less sensitive than a typical alarm system? I just want to be sure the system is operating properly so there will at least be some protection of the car.

I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
The sensitivity of the perimeter security system are usually set fairly low from the factory.

To determine if your perimeter security alarm is working properly, arm the system and wait for approx. 40 seconds. After 40 seconds, kick the driver side tire a few times or hit on the steering wheel a few times and the alarm should beep a few times. If you continue kicking or hitting the steering wheel, the alarm should go off.

To see if your alarm system is proper working condition, try the following procedure. Roll your driver-side window down, close all doors and arm the system. Wait approx. 40 seconds and then unlock the door from the inside of the vehicle (manually, do not use the UNLOCK button) and this should set the alarm off. If it doesn't, make sure that your alarm is not on VALET mode.

I hope this helps.

try kicking the tire or a FIRM open hand slap onto the corner (upper) of the windshield (when it is COLD).
