Legacy GT Shock Sensor

I just bought my Legacy GT sedan with the factory installed "perimeter security" system upgrade. I take this to mean the system uses a shock sensor to detect tampering with the car. I have tried to trigger the system without success. I have nudged & rocked the car while the system was "armed" (for more than 60 seconds) but the alarm did not activate.

Is this system less sensitive than a typical alarm system? I just want to be sure the system is operating properly so there will at least be some protection of the car.

I welcome your thoughts and suggestions.
