Ok I found the sub I want and I heard it today and my god its verrry nice for a verrrry nice price
.This is also going in my 01 RS 4dr. Anyone that has a setup similar to the one below, please let me know if there is any bad rattle issues with the RS so I can fix that.
Sub: Kicker CVR102 10"
Amp: Kicker KX350.2 According the Kicker's website this amp will work with the CVR102. I plan to stay at or a little over the 300W-RMS power range on the CVR102 so I won't need anything like a 600W RMS amp. The amp I chose has a 350W RMS rating at 4ohm bridged fashion, so it should provide me with a little bit of extra power if ever needed. I'll follow kicker's diagrams and stick to 4-Ohm Mono Bridged operation.
Box: MDF for sure, I don't have the cash for a fancy fiberglass setup. When I was at Circuit City listening to their setup they had a circular ported box that sounded very nice and wasn't sloppy at all. Which leads me to believe I want a sealed box so the bass will be cleaner. I listen to primarily trance/house but some old school rock is included and occasionally rap. I just don't know whether to build my own box or buy one.
Wires/Installation accessories: For 300W RMS I'll be using a 8ga kit. I'm very much under the impression that wire is wire, so what is the big difference between the many amp wiring kits available aside from a fancy brand name being on the box? Any other accessories I would need aside from the amp wiring kit which comes with the RCA cables, Power cables, and fuses?
What do you guys think of this setup? I'll be sourcing it out through ebay of course as it is alot cheaper and I already have some vendors I have done business with previously and was very satisfied. Now I just need a power cable setup and a box....
PS - If you are like me and feel somewhat confused about choosing amp/sub combos after reading a bunch of FAQ's, then check out the subwoofer manufacturer's site to see if they have a guide to choosing an Amp that suits the sub you chose! I found that Kicker has one under the SUPPORT section and the sub-category TECH SUPPORT, then lastly click on the SUB-TO-AMP GUIDE.
I'm also planning to run the dual 2ohm cvr as a dual 4ohm in series as shown in this diagram from kicker.

If you scroll down the page you will see the icon of the solo baric. Once you're on that page you can buy one for only 70 more dollars and get the second one free. If you don't want both then sell the other one for 150 and all you paid was 50 bucks for a way better speaker. Just a thought. Or we could go half for a buy one get one free and still only pay 100 each.
