JL Audio XR Series Will they fit?

I bought some JL Audio XR series 6.5 components in the front and 5.25 coaxials in the back. I have the large spacers from IA performance. I'm wondering if anyone has installed these in the rex and if they fit. Also if they did fit did you have to do any other modifications other than just installing the spacers?

^^^Why don't you check with IA?

I assume that they fit and am jealous that you have great speakers!

Let us know how they sound!

I just put those in on my 03, and they fit fine with a .75 inch spacer. The only thing is that you have to put the speaker grill on to push the door panel away from the surround. Once you do that you'll be fine.

When you say to put the speaker grill on is there any way I could possibly cut that surround away thats on the door panel. They have instructions for cutting that thing away on the IA site so I may have to do that. And I have heard they are great speakers and I am going to amp them so they should sound great. I got a great deal for them at ikesound.com.

I think it says somewhere on that site that you can get up to 2.88 in mounting depth. I think the JL XR's are 2.85 (check the specs on the jl audio site to confirm). You'll have to cut the frame for sure, but it's just plastic, so it shouldn't be a problem.

I just had a high-end custom stereo shop install the XRs front and back, the 6.5CSi up front, and the 5.25 CXi in the rear, with all speakers and the front tweeters in the stock locations.

I used IA's thick front spacers, and I got the thin rear spacers, but the shop told me that they didn't need any spacers in the rear. I also supplied the shop with the IA door panel clip extender set, which they used to perfection, and in addition to that, they trimmed the inside surface of the factory grills.

I love the XRs, they sound really nice and clean, with brilliant punch!

I used the JL Audio slash-series 300/4 amp to control all the components.
