Jammer and detector???
Need to get a radar detector or jammer. I have a few questions. First the LaserPro 904 jammer, if I buy this will I also need a radar detector? If yes I assume the laser portion is taken care of so should I focus on the X and K band performance of the detector?
Thanks
Thanks
Laser and radar have nothing to do with one another, they are completely different methods of speed monitoring. Any given PD may use either or both.
The radar jammers you can buy are passive units and are worthless, don't bother with them.
There are some laser jammers that work, I am not familiar with the one you mentioned so I don't know if it is effective or not. In order to be effective it has to be an active unit, which means it actually emits its own beam, rather than a passive unit which claims to intercept and reflect the incoming beam from the gun (these are worthless too). Also in the tests I have seen of laser jammers their effectiveness varied depending on certain conditions, including how they were mounted and what type of laser gun was being used. Some jammers worked well against a particular kind of gun but were ineffective with others. There are also legality issues with jammers in some states, even laser. As they say, check your local laws.
Regardless of whether you have a jammer or not, if you feel you need this level of protection you should still buy the best radar/laser detector you can get your hands on, personally I recommend the V1, also the Escort 8500 is a somewhat less-expensive alternative that many people like.

Well radartest.com is not an entirely unbiased site, at least with regard to radar detectors. They consistently give lower ratings to the V1 than everybody else because the owner of the site supposedly has a beef with Mike Valentine. So, I wouldn't take their laser jammer reviews as gospel either, although they do rate the Rocky Mountain stuff as the garbage that it is.
You might want to look for recent reviews that Car and Driver did on jammers, I don't remember the exact date but there was one within the last year or so. Search their website and you'll probably find it.

For laser jammer, check out the Laser Shifter ZR3. Coming from Escort, you can rest assure that it works. Several people have used this one and swear by it.
Another plus is that it will integrate nicely with the popular Passport 8500.
Check it out. http://www.tlelectronics.com/catalog...t.php?cPath=21

check out K-40 electronics at www.k40.com .
their not the cheapest system out there but they work really well and they offer both a radar/laser detector and a laser jammer. I sell these here in Cali and they work great. If you would like prices PM me and I will let you know what I can do.
