is this the future?
i've been doing a ton of googling to find something that will give me the storage i want out of a permenantly installed MP3 jukebox. the only thing i've found is this: http://mptronix.com/product_info.html ...i won't be buying it until i get back from iraq but i wanted to get some outside opinions. if you're a professional car audio guy or you own one i would love to hear your opinions. thanx.

seems very complex... but cool.
I have this and love the thing if you would like options that is.

here is it installed

I love this to death! That is a 1g mp3 player hooked up to it, you can attach any device to it that has a headphone jack or rca outputs. Also you can plug in a usb device to it. so on the long car trips you can plug a laptop to it and have a passinger watch a movie, or just put a big playlist on.. the drawback on it is you have wires comming out of your dash and its not that clean looking of an install.

Ok i just did alot of reading on this... I dont like that you are stuck with a pda for opperation, also i disslike the fm transmitter thing but it seems that they have an audio output so thats good.
other than that...
I want one!! the 40g package looks like a good deal!

i looked into the FM transmitor and it does suck. the alternative is that you can either buy a head unit that has an AUX input or, if you use a mulit-channel amp to power your system, you can route the signal from your head unit through the jukebox. the jukebox has a built in switch so that when it is off the signal from the head unit passes through to the amp. as soon as you switch it on the signal is cut off so your MP3's are being played...
the few people that i've emailed who use this say that the PDA controls are VERY akward at first but are still far better than digging through a book of 300 CD's in rush hour traffic. they also heavily advised playlisting as much as possible.
i will be getting this setup (with bluetooth) once i return from iraq so i'll post with pics when it's all done.
