STi future mods...

I know the cars arent even close to our greedy hands, but curious what anyone would think of doing to them. Already knowing how they come stock. Gotta give the mod makers time to mess with new go-fast stuff, just curious.

They come with BBS wheels, but those have to go to be unique at all, about the only thing I can see changing on the exterior. Apparently its about 1/2" lower stock so the gap wont be too bad.

Just curious what people are thinking. Not sure how many that are on the waiting list are here in the forums. Rex and Mehlt you are #1 and #2 on the list right?

Anyone know of any links to STi specs or more-so pics of any non-Blue (hint Silver) STi pics? Curious to see what it looks like.

And what color did you guys reserve???

Dave,

Considering the projected price tag I probably wouldn't be able to afford to do much initially. But if money wasn't an issue... (Yea right!)...

1) Uncork the exhaust. I've heard rumours that it has 3 cats just like the WRX. It's amazing how much power you can pull out of a WRX with 1 cat and a 3" back exhaust.
2) Engine management. Don't know how adaptable the STi's ECU is, but a remapped ECU (ECUTEK, etc...) could probably pull some additional hp

Not sure what else I would do beyond that. It is a very complete vehicle based on the current specs.

From a customer perspective I believe I'm #2. I just got a call today to confirm my primary and secondary color choices.
Primary: WR Blue with Gold Rims
Secondary: Silver with Gunmetal Rims

I'm still not commited 100% as I haven't even seen MSRP, but the deposit gives me first right of refusal. It's nice to at least have the option open. It sounds like their list is building up and when I talked to Chris the other day he said he was going to "try" and order 7 STi's.

Tim

Ah ok, guess I will probably get asked my second choice as well. I would be the exact opposite

First: Silver/Gunmetal
Second: Blue/Gold
Third: none, 350Z or Used Vette at that point...

I will look for an exhaust after break-in for sure. Replace the wheels first thing and then just be happy and stop wasting money and save for a house. =)

Just a second set of wheels and tires for the track.

I want to atleast personalize it a little bit so I will replace wheels for daily use. THe BBS are probably too heavy for racing use, but who cares, its an STi it can handle the weight. So I will use em for racing. I just want a slightly different look is all. So its not like the other 1900 STis out there, course there wont be more than a handful in Hawaii anyways. =)

Well in Japan where they get better gas then us and have AVCS which is Subaru's answer to VTEC in honda's. It caters quite well to the Apex S-AFC. The US WRX has a very conservative ECU and no matter how much you play with fuel it will still pull back timing. So if you were to uncork the exhaust system, an S-AFC could do you wonders providing that the ECU isn't as nit-picky as the '02-03 model WRX's.

But yeah a set of rims with stick tires would do the trick. Youshould leave the suspension alone. You'd be surprised how good the STi suspension is. It's one of the more 'tuned' pieces on the car and a lot of thought went into it and it's functionality. There are stiffer struts, springs, bushings, links, and more. These are all things that we normally rip out of a car and replace. Now it's like how we want it from the factory!

I tend to agree on the suspension. While I don't have all of the bits in place on my Wagon I do have a good portion of them and I'm really happy with the setup. It provides a good balance between road and track use. The ultimate of course would be the STi adjustables.
I'm in agreement with Dan though I probably wouldn't mess with any mods. The WRX screams mod me, The STi says don't mess with a good thing.

BBS rims are light, But if you're looking to give them away, I'll take them off of your hands...

You want personolized Dave, dont get what everyone already has... Volk and Prodrive wheels are pretty common. How about some 5Zigen's, Advans, or Racing Hart? They all have some great designs, but they also have some hefty price tags with most in the $400 a wheel price tag.

True, I guess Im getting at the point that I want the STi different from the others on island and there wont be many. I just gotta look at wheels more and see whats out there. Im sure I can find something less common that I like.
