clean, cheap and easy ipod connection to stock stereo

First off, I don't have any pic's of this because when I did it I didn't realize just how clever it really was. This is the easiest, least expensive, and cleanest ways to run my ipod I could come up with.

what you will need:

a standard tape adapter (the tape with jack that hangs off of it)
a little patience
and that's really it

all I did was:

removed stereo (not too difficult)

removed stereo face plate (slightly more difficult but not that bad)

inserted tape adapter

routed wire behind stereo face and out an existing hole of the stereo frame (simple enough but be sure to look at where the face plate will be re-attaching and watch out for any obstructions)

re-attached face of stereo and put it all back together

routed the jack underneath the ashtray and viola!

clean ipod install.

only the wire from under the ashtray is visible (which is easy to hide in ashtray when not in use)

works great. only small issue is the tape will eject out if the battery is disconnected. just make sure you leave a little slack on the wire so it can eject should it need to. I did this about 4-5 months ago. I've never had one problem with it. you won't be able to run play your vanilla ice tapes anymore but nothing's perfect. feel free to ask me any questions. thanks!

clear as the tape deck adapters are. the one I used was $15 at radioshack and works very well in my opinion. I'm not really into stereo's or anything (I think the factory subwoofer is pretty good) but I think it sounds great. a million times better than that iTrip piece of crap I wasted $40 on. I think it's better than my roommates monster cable transmitter as well. his charges it but my setup is clearer.

I use the same set up for my Sirius receiver, it's much better than the FM, though I would not recomend either set up to anyone who realy gets off on clean sounding music.
I didn't do all the stealthy routing work, that's impressive, I'm lazy
