Alpine Type R or Alpine Type X ??
What would you guys get? Type R or Type X? I heard alot of good reviews for the Type R so I was wondering if the Type X is even worth the money? And whats the deal with ported or not ported boxes?

The type R is a good sub if you want good average bass. I have a 12 dual 4ohm in my trunk at 600 RMS and am pretty happy with it. the type X is better if you want block shaking bass.
their 12 dual 4ohm is 1000 RMS (500 per coil) so if you are going to have the amp to push it go for it.
as for boxes, generally sealed boxes will give you tighter sounding bass while a ported box will not be as tight. although this is a trade off you will get more bass out of a ported enclosure. ported boxes are more efficient and can produce the same ammount of bass at a lower wattage compared to a sealed enclosure.
