I have it, and absolutely love it. The screen is amazing, and the power is fantastic (it requires direct power wiring.

Controls work very well.

i have the 9835. the screen shown in the first link is the 9833. the 9835 has a much cleaner screen IMO.

Yea it can get pretty complicated to use to fine tune the audio settings, just sit in your car with the manual and just test things out.

Is it possible to change the screen saver/animation on that unit? Or even change the text color? I like the resolution, but I was playing with one in the store and the guy wouldn't help me out or explain it to me. I have the 7995 right now and I'm thinking about upgrading to that one... or just wait for the 05 Alpine units.

Yes, you can change the screen saver/ animation on this unit. it has a few different ones programmed in it. You can also change the text color. I believe there are 5 colors and then over 300 different contrasts of each color. It is a pretty sweet deck and it has already been said many times: it is complicated.

the 9835 doesnt have text color its called bio lite its like black and white the only colors you can change are the memory preset colors from amber and green and the 4 chicklets (i call um) that the 512 color scheme
for 05 they have vivid biolit which is like the blio lite but color looks sweet but it only comes on the 7996 replacment and its like 1300 retail or some rediculus amount

ds barrrruuu...

wrong.

on the 9835 the display does change colors right along with the buttons and chiklets. I have the 9833 and it does not change colors.

BTW...the 9833 is 300$ at Crutchfield now...and its an authorized dealer so you get a warranty.
