Viper series alarms are pretty good, and Escort Passport 9500 are the best. valentine 1 is good, but Escort is better.

viper/python/clifford are all the same. DEI is the only alarm manufacturer I trust. As far as radar detectors valentine, escort, and beltronics vector series are all nice.

As far as radar detectors go, the Valentine 1 rules.

Check out what Gumball Run-type event participants prefer: Most swear by the V1

Yup, I have a Valentine 1 and also an Escort Passport. Once you have seen the Valentine 1 in action and it's range, there is no other you would ever consider. Perhaps it's a philosophical question but if a private company does just fine selling directly to consumers instead of mass marketing to the public and selling at electronics stores, I think the company and product must be pretty good. Also, if you look at most ads for non-Valentine 1 radar detectors, they always use the Valentine 1 in their comparison which speaks for itself.

my valentine1 saved me from getting 5 tickets yesterday alone (driving from the bay to tahoe and back) no exageration. there is no comparason between it and any other radar detector in my oppinion!

also, it has arrows that dirrect you where your threat is coming from. (front, back, ect.) . . . mike valentine, who ownes the company that makes them, use to make radar and lasar guns for the cops. now he's on out side.

definitley go with the v1! it hasnt let me down yet!

Mounted my V1 right above the clock with leftoovers from a hands free cell phone mounting kit I go @ Target (I think). I just nipped a piece of the clock pod, about the size of a pea, for the wire to pass down into the dash. Its a two piece mount, so I can stash the V1 whenever I want, just unplug the power cable and slide it out. I hardwired into the cigarette lighter wiring when I was installing the Pioneer head unit also seen.

I must say I'm quite happy with how all my wiring (radar, head unit, amp, sub) came out, very OEM & stealthy.

thank you for all your replys. i have checked out valentine.. and read alittle bit. it says that you shouldnt put it on your dash because of the sunlight causing interference. i was also lookin through a magazine that had the similiar features, but 1 extra that was interesting to me. it said something about a GPS tracking feature.. does anybody know anything about that =)

and i havent figured an alarm system. =( too many to choose from

Slim, to quote Dr. Drew, dude.....REALLY??

As far as I can tell, my Valentine is working fine. Saves my butt numerous times per week.

Where else am I supposed to mount it that is out of sunlight?? The mount that comes with it attaches to the windshield. Last time I checked, sunlight is able to finagle its way through the windshield.

Try mounting it somewhere in the dash like down in the pocket below the radio.....oh I did and that sucked. The signal strength was worthless, same thing happened to my buddy who did almost the same thing with his Beltronics unit. Must be something called a firewall and an engine block that gets in the way of things.

Mounting to the top of the dash = best signal strength & most importantly its legal.
