You know how you put the head unit in the guage pod where the clock is a a 7 or 7 1/2" screen where the stock unit is now ? I've seen these and I really want to get one but I was just wondering, for those of you out there you have this done already, if your driving around and don't even have a DVD playing or anything, is the screen still constantly on? Kinda just glowing in the background? Certain things have a tendency to annoy me and if that thing stayed on even without me using it then that would drive me nuts. I hope not but let me know, k?

 

The screen comes with a remote control which you can turn it off with.

 

The screen turns off with the car being shut off but you have to manually turn it on when you turn the car on, it doesn't come on automatically.

Yes. On the remote control there is a power button for the screen , you can also adjust the size and contrast of the screen.

Those are pretty nice, but I think it looks kinda "unfinished" where the clock is. When its in the double DIN it looks OEM.

i insalled my cd player in the gauge pack last night and it was the easiest thing ever done. the cd player fits perfect, you might need to extend wires if they are short though...im putting a 7" screen in the doble din spot with ps2 and the Gypsy Av if i can find one....if anyone knows a screen that will fit perfect let me know....i live in NH so if u want to see it let me know.. i get tons of compliments, olus the guys at the subaru dealership liked it.

What deck did you go with. I have an alpine...7987 and it looks like I will have to do some trickery to get it to fit....flip out oversized face and what not.
