Blarg... what is there to do in Phoenix?
So I'm sitting here in my new apartment. Most of my stuff is still on the floor and I have almost no furniture.
I am bored.
Some one posted a link to this event on the other board:

Jan 9th... doesn't look like it is too far away from me. Anyone else going? I just need a reason to get out of this room and into my car.
Was driving around tonight trying to find where the import or just plain car people hang out. In CA the In'n'Out is a sure bet but I haven't seen one around here.
Anyone with hot tips what to do hit me on the celly or AIM

Exciting town hey? On Saturday nights groups of people have been know to hang out at the PAVILLIONS in Scottsdale. Every Saturday they have a car show there. On the Barret-Jackson weekend expect to see somewhere in the range of 900 cars at any one time at the Pavillions (thats what was there last year about 5 PM). Normally after the older people like me go home the younger crowd starts to show up, say about 7 and later. The only in & out that I know of in North Scottsdale, no one hangs out there. As far as the 9th I know wrs-spd is planning on going and I might go too. Otherwise if your into doing auto-x and road racing watch some of the web sites for that stuff. WRX-SPD is really good about putting that stuff onto the this site. He likes big groups of WRX's to show up.....Depends what you like to do, Saturday Republic Newspaper in the auto section usually has any type of car/motorcycle thing happening listed too. Probably not much help but thought I would pass on some info even if limited....

I'm not a giant auto-x fan, but I usually go once in a while to see the cars and say hey to everyone. I really like going road racing, but at the momment I don't have the money it takes to race (or at least what it costs in norcal, about 250-300 bucks a pop), plus I have an RS so I doubt anyone would be too stoked on seeing it show up.
Thanks for the info. Hope to see you at the drag event. I'll be the tall guy in this car: http://www.sfrench.org/automotive/my-car.asp

yeah in-n-outs are much of a hang out in arizona. there is one at the corner of frank loyd wright and scottsdale road right off loop 101. another is way out in west phoenix. another in chandler off the 60 i think at the stapley exit. i am up in flagstaff and there is nothing to do here but do some off road driving.
hope you find something to do

There isn't much to do in Auburn where I am from either (although there are some good roads and off road too), but at least all my friends are around so we can do nothing together...
Seems to be a lot of modded cars in the area, but I have only seen one Subie. I've already had some riceboys in a Civic Hatch and Cavalier rev and try to race me. For some reason I didn't think it would be this type of area, but I guess there really are a lot of bored ricers around.
All I know is if it wasn't for *** high speed cable access I would be going crazy by now!

Just to give you an idea on prices, usually on import drag racing nights, $10 for the hondas to sit and watch with their hoods open, more of a car show for them, $15 for the guys who race. For road racing you can volunteer some of your time doing corner work and such, they will reduce your entry fees to race. Not to bad of a deal. Road racing everything form Miata's and up.....
WRX-SPD has a 02 WRX (blue) and I will be there in a 03 WRX Wagon (Yellow). e both get of of work at 6 pm and will head out there then.

Thanks for the heads up. It's $15 to drag out at Sac Raceway too. I'll be out there on the ninth but not sure what time they start, etc.
Heh heh... I email my info to those guys and got myself added...

Thanks!
Do you guys know of anyone with a blue wagon? I saw someone this afternoon at the intersection of Central (Center? something like that) and Bethany Home in a WRB WRX Wagon. I waved and he gave the peace sign. First WRX I've seen in a while. You can't throw a rock in CA without hitting one!
Looking forward to seeing you guys out there. Hopefully you're running a whole lot faster than me!

Best I have run in Sac is a 15.2 @ 88. I know, it's slow, but to put things in perspective, that's #8 for N/A car listed on the Subaru quarter mile registry.

I usually only get 2.0 60' times even with a hard launch... just not enough power there (126.5 big HP at the wheels according to Shiv's dyno at Vishnu). I got a 1.9 60' before but the I was having trouble shifting into 2nd that day... should have been a 15.1 run but just didn't happen.
It's slow, but it's still fun to get out there and practice. In a few weeks I went from 16.0 -> 15.2
