I finally got a new modem from TWC.
Connection is much better now

 

Ok i am calling dibs at your place since u have Verizon Fios.... i don't want to deal with TWC or DSL

 

what does this new one look like?

Yeah I need to get ed to set up the internet. We have been running Cable with TWC and DSL in my room LOL!.. We need to cancel the TWC and set up the router with DSL.

So far the DSL has been stable, speeds not as fast as the cable, but stable and consistent at around 3mb down and 500kb up, whereas TWC went down I think last night or the night before. SO yeah, go figure.

Still waiting for fios to come around to our area.

Yeah I know, the good thing is. We aren't all on it at the same time. Karen usually just surfs for a 20-30 mins and shes watching tv. School started for her too so shes gonna be probably just researching stuff which doesn't take much bandwidth at all. Thi is pretty much watching her movies that Ed downloaded. So it's really ed and I that are hoggin up the bandwidth. Plus, we are looking into getting one of these http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16833127243 so we'll see how it goes.

School starts for me in spring so i'll probably only be on during the weekends.

don't bother with those gimmick gaming router.

get a linksys and update it with DD-WRT firmware.

Its basically turns your $60 router into a enterprise function router.

i doubt our place will ever get FIOS since we live in an older HOA community. they would have to dig up the asphalt and replace the lines...
speaking of, they are now offering u-verse at my parents place maybe i should move back home....

 

our upstream is faster and less jitter with DSL

down speed isn't too important with online gaming its your upstream and latency
