you base off cars on how many gear they have and if it has HIDS?

c'mon BE A MAN

choose a car because its fun to drive. Maybe AWD is too much for you, go to FR.

1st car auto fwd-honda accord-slow and boring
2nd car 5-speed fwd-honda accord-still slow and boring
3rd car 5-speed awd-alittle faster and more fun than the accord

california roads, despite what you see (dont forget the AMOUNT of road we have here) are actually on par or better than the rest of the country. our highwaysystem here is jacked, but you need keep in mind when the highway system was built. you should maybe save your money and go travelling instead.

LANCER EVOLUTION RS
Just like every member of the Lancer Evolution family, we started with our famous 4G63 engine; it features the highest power-to-displacement ratio of any production inline four-cylinder engine available. But that wasn't enough for us. You also get all-wheel drive, the revolutionary Active Center Differential and some super-sticky Advan® tires for levels of cornering grip that can barely be believed. Add a set of Brembo® brakes that stop like you just dropped anchor, and you've got all the performance features that the Evolution's legendary rally heritage was built on.

EVO IX
The Lancer Evolution IX comes with all of the features of the RS, but with the addition of a color-keyed rear spoiler with carbon-fiber airfoil, keyless entry, power windows/locks/mirrors, Mitsubishi Sports ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution and more.

EVO IX MR
Take everything available on the Lancer Evolution IX and add one-piece forged aluminum BBS® wheels to save a little more rotational weight. Add a close-ratio six-speed gearbox to keep you in the fattest part of the powerband. Let the revolutionary Vortex Generator funnel air to the rear wing and then give the wing a wickerbill extension to increase the level of downforce it generates. Throw on some inverted Bilstein® shocks to push lateral-acceleration (g-force) numbers to the absolute limits ever seen in a street car. Then add an aluminum roof to reduce center of gravity for even better cornering performance, and you've got an MR that can go head to head with just about anything in production. And win.

Well you know that the Prius fits his description for a car since it does have HIDs and it has a CVT! The CVT has an almost infinite # of gear choices.

Seriously tho, if you want a 6th gear tranny, then it is more for cruising and saving gas. They put the rest of the gears in the power band so you can save fuel with 6th.

The EVO RS is a great idea. Bare bones, everything an auto enthusiast wants without the bells and whistles. You can add them later if you want. Why not get the WRX TR?

Aaaaand i'll repeat my list of cars I drove.

1981 Nissan maxima station wagon (junk)
1977 Toyota pickup truck (junk)
1971 240Z (*drool*)
1985 Honda Prelude (Dual Carbs and revved the crap out of this one)
2000 2.5RS (ahh the memories)
2005 WRX Sti

See I drove crap until my 2.5RS (excluding the 240Z) so you shouldn't feel obligated to buy a super car. Just get something decent.

Tim

if you want to talk about crap cars:

1987 isuzu i-mark (flooring it on the santa cruz mountains = 25mph)
1989 nissan sentra (i actually liked this one)
1992 mercury sable (POSx81,897,123,732!!!)
1994 toyota previa (RWD, baby!)

beat that! all autos too.
