hahaha, its just that I dont see canyons, or worse, a public parking lot as a replacement for a closed course... If you can, then you truly don't have respect for others and/or the law.
I do canyon runs with friends but they are by no means a replacement for a track day or a auto-x course.
Want to fully extract the potential of a car? Take it to the track.
