Why Subaru doesn't factory paint their sideskirts is still a mystery to me.

Agreed. But the budget of a manufacturer is also limited by its overall sales - Subaru just can't match up with Mazda, Nissan or Toyota. Getting better, yes, but nowhere close to the big names in the game.

But hey, factory unpainted sideskirts also serve a latent function: It pulls the aftermarket along.

exactly how many subarus- even now- do you see on the road
while it's name is slowly coming up it's still a relatively unknown brand
though i do believe with the introduction of the WRX and STI it definately had a role in the way other manufacturers are now designing and marketing their cars

I could be worse. srt4's don't have painted mirrors or power rear windows.

If you ever line up next to an srt 4, just roll down your rear windows.. :rotfl:

Without yhe wrx there would probably be no evo, srt-4, cobalt ss etc...

Competition breeds change, rapid progression and eventually perfection.

and what is to credit for the avalailability of the wrx in the US? Video games like Gran Turismo, and even movies like f&f.

Right, that's another way of phrasing it.
