I worked at South Coast Subaru, also in the parts department, with Rob, and am good friends with Dino, Sean Cooperrider and Steven Groves.
Your warranty stands a good chance of being voided once you modify your car in any performance-related way.
Aside from that, Subaru has been known to wimp out on warranties.. so until those 60k miles are up, be nice to your tranny!

Hey Kym,
I talked to steve and even when Anthony was around, according to them it is dependent on the service writer. The big stuff like tranny, engines will need regional approval only due to those stuff most likely being abused. If you are just dropping the clutch at high revs, then dont expect to get a warranty on your tranny, but changing exhaust will not effect your warranty on your tranny. In conclusion, abusing the car will void the warranty but failures that are not direct relations to abuse should be covered. They will not warranty the after market part.

That is one dealership that I do not recommend to anyone! I had such a horrible experience with them. I couldn't believe the treatment they gave me... not only the salesman but also the owner! I took my business to Irvine where I had a smooth and very profesional experience.

Anthony's not around anymore. There's a pretty good reason for that.
Though Steven and Sean may be some of the coolest (and young seeming) people there, they're still not lenient with aftermarket performance modifications. I've had this talk way too many times with Steven. Now I know South Coast has recently brought in a director whose prerogative sits above all the service managers, including Sean, but even so, a regional advisor (like you previously said) would be brought in for the final decision (ex: Charles of SOA handles South Coast).
And again, Subaru, in general has been known to wuss out on warranties. This also applies for Irvine, Timmons, etc., etc., etc.
I'm not picking on South Coast by itself - I'm just giving my input based on my first hand experience working there.

Hey,
I give props to Anthony. He is a great guy and I still try to talk to him. I spoke to him last week and he said he is happy where hes at. I wish he was still working at south coast subaru. I also spoke to him a while back ago about the same things. Im only stating what I learned from him and Mike. Im sorry that some of you guys had bad experinces with the owner but hopefully thats in the past and the future will be better. It seems like thing are starting to turn slowly.
Hey Kym,
Hows it going? I did not see you at life last sunday. We were thinking of holding a chino hills meet at my house one day. You game to come?

I try and keep my relationship with former employers pretty professional. South Coast has some pretty cool people: Tor, John, Steven, Sean, Ellen (she's THE BEST, seriously), Ian, Si, Arthur, Mike and Tommy.. everybody there, for the most part was absolutely awesome. Good luck there.
Last week was the first time I hadn't been to Life in.......... a really long time! I was driving back from the bay area, and was totally dead. I'd be down for that Chino Hills meet.. lemme know.

Hello,
We are thinking of haveing an install by one of our tech for half the price. What do you guys think? Sounds good. Everyone can ask him questions, pros and cons of designs maybe? Any volunteers if we decide to do this? Call me at 7146892103
Thanks Ferdie
