well with current oil prices sky rocketing. EPA and other organizations are looking at different ways to view costs on fuel.
A new way which can be the new standard is miles per dollar.

well in 3 - 5 years you have to replace the $2,500 battery. So unless you basically drive no where you save nothing. If you want to save real money get the old Honda Insight and get 70+mpg.
3-5 years? that doesn't sound right. i thought it was more like 10+ years. both my bosses have priuses (1st and 2nd gen) and they're all running strong. they consistently get 45mpg. most people who buy it don't get it to save money on gas as their main reason. i've heard of more people getting it just to get the carpool lane sticker than to make money back on gas.
