Im new to the racing scene, but abhore any type of illegal street racing. I want to start racing my car, and would like to know where around S.D. I could. I am willing to go up to 5 hours away to get on a track and race against time, or people. Any help?
Check with Carlsbad Raceway for Drag type racing...then further north there is Irwindale, Willow Springs, Los Angeles County Raceway, California Speedway...if you like Auto-X there is one at Qualcom almost every weekend. Also a good source is NASA, SCCA, or do a search for car clubs, auto-x, rally, and I just scratched the surface. If you are "truely" new to this, start with go-kart racing and go from there. There are many schools for all the above also. What kind of car do you have?

I have an 02 WRX sedan. I have whiteline springs, cusco sway bars and strut tower braces, and 17x7 subzeros from rota.
I want auto X mainly, so thank you for the help in where the tracks are, and at the stadium. I am also going to check out the nasa and scca websites.
I was already in the process of choosing a school for racing, and will be signed up in the next week or so.
As for being "truely" new, I do know the back roads around Julian and Palomar well, since I live close by. Haven't most of us run fast through some of twisties back there?
