Need something welded?
I got a welder as a wedding present.
Just want to put it out there if people need stuff welded.
Skills are limited right now, but I am learning more each time.
Will be able to do some light fabrication, nothing serious like roll cages. Maybe light brackets or non-structural stuff like that.
It doesn't even have to be car related. I made my co-worker a rack to hang her pots.
Basically if you ever thought of anything that you needed out of metal or need something welded together give me an e-mail wangb(at)metro(dot)net.

I need to have one of the hangers on my catback welded. Damn thing broke off and made a nice exhaust leak. I was hoping to have a friend help me out but he's been kinda lagging...

Hey1 and TygerStile: Yeah I am sure it can be welded. It depends on time/cost effectiveness. Would it be cheaper and less time to just go to a muffler shop do it?
Sigma Pi: What do you mean by Axle back? Is this exhaust or suspension part? Cutting pipe and welding it would be a good challenge. I am planning to redo the exhaust on my BRAT, my y-pipe is not lining up right.
On another note I did some grinding on a piece I made the other day. It's a frame made of 1/4 inch steel. Welder got good heat penetration on both side and fused metal together. I thing 1/4 is really testing the limits of my welder. Will probably stick with 1/8 inch or 3/16.
I am planning to make a rack for my sister's Jeep Rubicon. Goes above the spare tire.

The hole in the piping is 1 1/2 x 1/2 in. wide... so it's not really big. How much do you think it would cost you? I already pulled it off the car, and threw my stock cat-back on. It's just in the midpipe, so I don't even need to bring the whole exhuast.
Anyway, let me know if you can help me out. Otherwise I'll try another friend... thanks.

TIG, MIG, FCAW?
Lincoln, Miller?
AC capable?
I have been looking for a nice TIG welder but they are so dang expensive.
Have you tried aluminum yet? If you have Argon you should try welding with Helium,
HOLY CRAP it gets hot really fast.
Congrats dude!

It's a Chicago Electric 100.
Harbor Freight special.
I think they are on sale for 119.00. It's 110v wire fed. No way of using a shielding gas like argon so I use flux core wire. It's a bare bones welder. two power settings High and Low, and wire feed speed adjustment.
Tygerstile: cost is minimal. Can you take a pic of the pipe and where you need the fitting to go. I probably would have to get a patch to fix the hole and then weld the hanger on.
Sigma Pi: Cutting the pipe would be time consuming. If it would be sweet though cause you would have great flow through the exhaust. Can you draw a rough shape of what it would look like and e-mail me wangb(at)metro(dot)net. If you are willing to help with cutting we can work something out.
re:Plasma cutter.... ohhh don't tease me.

S'ko - I found a friend to weld the parts for me. His pops is a welder, and he has been taking time off from work so I guess he needs something to do, lol. Thanks though, and have fun with your welding projects...
